‘Game of Thrones’ season 8 likely to drive HBO Now signups, data shows
HBO should see a surge in sign-ups for the final season of Game of Thrones.
The big question: How much churn will HBO experience following the finale in May?
A recent study from Second Measure showed a spike in sign-ups during season 7 and a steady decline for the 6-months following the finale.
HBO subscribers:
1) Non-U.S. — 88M (62%)
2) U.S. — 54M (38%)
3) Total — 142M
HBO subscribers (U.S. only):
1) Traditional — 49M (91%)
2) Online — 5M (9%)
PSA: Non-HBO subscribers can watch the season 8 premiere for free by signing up for a 7-day trial of HBO Now.
